APSNA Mentee Application
Mentee applicants should be genuinely interested in mentorship as a way to further their pediatric surgical nursing career. Successful mentees take responsibility for their learning, set clear goals with their mentor, and follow through on agreed action steps. They are open to coaching and constructive feedback, and they communicate regularly to share progress and questions. Mentees seek appropriately challenging experiences that build clinical judgment and confidence while learning how to navigate team culture, workflows, and available resources. Over time, they find the right balance between independence and guidance, with independence increasingly taking the lead and the relationship evolving as skills grow. The outcome is a stronger sense of belonging, clearer direction, and readiness to contribute meaningfully to patient care and the profession
